Snow leopard injures tourist at ski resort in China
On January 23, in Fuyun County, Altay City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a snow leopard attacked a female tourist. The incident occurred when a group of three tourists ventured deep into the forest, likely in search of dramatic footage. The injured tourist was promptly taken to hospital. According to local authorities, her condition is stable, although she is currently unable to speak due to serious facial injuries. Snow leopards are a first-class protected wild species in China. According to the World Wildlife Fund, there are at least four thousand individuals inhabiting populated areas. Deforestation and habitat loss disrupt the ecological balance and affect the distribution of these predators.
