Woman in the US suspected of killing her husband with a flagpole
In Palm Desert, California, 65-year-old Vicky Kyong Mi Kim was taken into custody on suspicion of murdering her husband. As The Guardian World reports, citing SF Gate, she is suspected of fatally injuring him with a flagpole.
Call to a residential complex
On September 4, sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about an unspecified incident at The Enclave, a luxury condominium complex in Palm Desert. At the scene, they found a person with traumatic injuries that, according to a preliminary assessment, may have been inflicted during a physical assault. Law enforcement pronounced the person dead.
The victim was Kim’s husband, SF Gate reported. According to court documents, bail for the suspect was set at $10 million.
Previous cases
The circumstances preceding the fatal incident remain unknown. At the same time, court documents indicate that Kim had previously been involved in cases related to domestic violence.

In January, she pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges: battery against a spouse or cohabitant, and inflicting bodily injury on a spouse in connection with another offense. Kim also pleaded guilty to violating a protective order.
According to KESQ News Channel 3, the couple had previously argued over finances and allegations of infidelity. Riverside County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Molly Smith told SF Gate that in January, prosecutors charged Kim with a felony, obtained criminal protective orders, and intended to seek to hold her accountable.
According to Smith, despite the prosecution’s objections, a judge treated all of the defendant’s cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody, and lifted the protective orders. Journalists were unable to promptly identify the judge to obtain comment.
