Zelenskyy and the Swedish Prime Minister Discussed Gripen Deliveries and Air Defense
During a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed strengthening Ukraine’s combat aviation, pilot training, the development of the Drone Deal agreement, and the expansion of the European anti-ballistic missile system.
The head of state thanked Sweden for its support and participation in the PURL program, emphasizing the importance of receiving all planned security assistance in a timely manner amid ongoing ballistic attacks by the Russian Federation.
The parties paid particular attention to the implementation of aviation agreements. The leaders noted the importance of the document signed in Kyiv regarding Ukraine’s purchase of the latest Swedish Gripen E fighter jets. In addition, the Ukrainian side is awaiting the transfer of 16 Gripen C/D fighter jets as military aid from Sweden, with delivery scheduled for early 2027.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would allocate part of the 90 billion euro financial aid package from the European Union to defense needs, specifically for the purchase of Gripen fighter jets from Sweden. According to the head of state, the funding will help strengthen Ukraine’s defense and modernize its aviation capabilities.
Following inspections in May, the two largest payment terminal networks—EasyPay (LLC “FC ‘Kontraktovy Dom’”) and City24 (LLC “Swift Garant”)—were hit with massive fines: 135 million hryvnias each.
