Zelenskyy Discussed the Attacks on the Lavra and Air Defense with King Philippe of Belgium
During his official visit to Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had an audience with His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium.
The head of state briefed the monarch in detail on the ongoing Russian shelling of civilian infrastructure, focusing in particular on the consequences of the hostile attack that damaged the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a World Heritage Site.
During the conversation, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the critical need to further strengthen international sanctions against Russia, and also spoke about ongoing diplomatic efforts with key partners and the importance of strengthening Europe’s role in the broader negotiation process. In addition, the President briefed King Philip on the current situation directly on the front lines. The parties also devoted separate attention to the issue of supporting Ukraine’s European integration and the development of bilateral defense cooperation.

The European Commission plans to propose on June 16 the opening of the first round of negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union.
