Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with Witkoff and Kushner
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden’s negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Dmytro Lytvyn, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, confirmed the details of the conversation to reporters. Responding to a question about reports of Zelenskyy’s contacts with Witkoff and Kushner, he noted that they had “just concluded” the phone call.
Earlier, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing his own sources, reported that the conversation focused on diplomatic efforts to end the war waged by the Russian Federation—the aggressor state—against Ukraine.
As “European Truth” notes, after the U.S. and Israel began their war against Iran, the United States effectively put its participation in negotiations regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war on hold. The visit by Witkoff and Kushner to Kyiv, which the Office of the President of Ukraine had expected after Easter, did not take place.
On July 2, Zelenskyy also reported on talks between National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Kushner that had taken place over the previous two days.
