The earthquake in Venezuela has already claimed 920 lives

The death toll from the double earthquake in Venezuela continues to rise. According to the latest reports, the disaster has already claimed the lives of 920 people, and more than 3,000 others have been injured. Rescue workers are still searching for those who may remain trapped under the rubble.

The death toll in Venezuela has risen following the double earthquake. According to the country’s authorities, 920 people have died, and another 3,360 have been injured. The updated figures were announced by Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Venezuelan National Assembly. According to him, search and rescue operations are continuing nonstop. “At least 172 people remain trapped under the rubble,” Rodríguez said.

The disaster has caused widespread destruction. At least 383 residential buildings, 13 hospitals, 25 shopping centers, and more than 1,000 other buildings and structures have been damaged. The La Guaira region has been hit the hardest. Due to the difficult situation, authorities have urged people to temporarily avoid traveling to the area so as not to hinder the work of emergency services. “We are grateful for the incredible desire to help, but traffic jams are forming on the roads used to transport the injured. The best way to help is to keep the roads clear so that medical personnel can transport the injured and rescue workers can do their jobs more effectively,” emphasized the president of the National Assembly.

Rescue workers, medical personnel, and military personnel continue to work at the scene of the tragedy. They are clearing debris, evacuating the injured, and searching for people who may still be trapped under the rubble of buildings. Authorities warn that the death toll may rise, as search operations are not yet complete and some of those reported missing have not yet been found. An assessment of the extent of the destruction and damage caused by one of the strongest earthquakes the country has experienced in recent times is also underway, according to CNN.

Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, stated that the death toll from the country’s twin devastating earthquakes has risen to 589, and the number of injured has reached at least 2,980.
