The earthquake in Venezuela has already claimed 920 lives

The death toll in Venezuela has risen following the double earthquake. According to the country’s authorities, 920 people have died, and another 3,360 have been injured. The updated figures were announced by Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Venezuelan National Assembly. According to him, search and rescue operations are continuing nonstop. “At least 172 people remain trapped under the rubble,” Rodríguez said.

The disaster has caused widespread destruction. At least 383 residential buildings, 13 hospitals, 25 shopping centers, and more than 1,000 other buildings and structures have been damaged. The La Guaira region has been hit the hardest. Due to the difficult situation, authorities have urged people to temporarily avoid traveling to the area so as not to hinder the work of emergency services. “We are grateful for the incredible desire to help, but traffic jams are forming on the roads used to transport the injured.
