Due to drone strikes, Russia has restored less than half of the damaged oil refineries
Russian oil companies have managed to resume operations at less than half of the oil refineries that were damaged by drone attacks.
According to Platts, following unscheduled repairs, refineries with a combined capacity of 40 million metric tons per year have resumed operations, while facilities with a total capacity of 45 million metric tons remain idle.
In June and July, at least 10 Russian refineries suspended oil processing due to drone attacks. Among them are the Omsk Refinery, Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez, the Moscow Refinery, and the Taneco plant.
According to industry sources, a full resumption of gasoline and diesel production could take at least two months, provided there are no new attacks. The Moscow Refinery sustained the most damage, and repairs there could drag on until 2027.
