The U.S. is planning a full-scale war with Iran
On Sunday, July 19, relations between the U.S. and Iran came close to a full-scale conflict. This was due to an escalation in attacks on civilian and military targets, as well as the deaths of three American soldiers.
As is known, on Friday, Iran struck a U.S. military base in Jordan, killing two service members. On Saturday, the tragedy repeated itself, this time in Iraq. There, as a result of a “controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance” from a downed Iranian drone, another soldier was killed.
U.S. President Donald Trump called the first two deaths a “very sad event,” and in an interview with NewsNation, he said he “couldn’t care less” that Iran would no longer abide by the bilateral memorandum of understanding.
“The U.S. is planning a larger-scale war,” an American official told the Washington Post, adding that the Pentagon is increasing the number of military aircraft in the region.
However, he warned that the expansion of U.S. operations would be limited by dwindling stocks of air defense systems and long-range munitions.
In addition, the U.S. faces limitations on its ability to deploy additional troops and aircraft to the area due to combat damage.
“We don’t have enough resources to safely sustain operations, and I don’t think the White House realizes this,” the official added.
Military experts believe that, in addition to the depletion of U.S. equipment and ammunition stocks, the U.S. is not prepared for a possible ground operation in Iran—that is, the kind of operation that Trump refused to rule out last week.
