Zelenskyy has established a command center to exert long-range influence on Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of a new command within the Armed Forces of Ukraine that will be responsible for the army’s long-range capabilities and strikes against Russia’s military capabilities. According to him, the unit should focus on using all available resources to weaken Russia’s ability to continue the war.
The head of state also announced the creation of the Joint Rapid Reaction Forces and outlined upcoming changes to the command structure of the assault troops.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had signed a decree establishing a special long-range strike command within the Armed Forces. The main task of the new unit will be to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities to strike at long range and reduce Russia’s military potential.
The President explained that this command is to focus exclusively on developing the Ukrainian army’s long-range capabilities. According to him, the unit should consolidate all necessary resources to more effectively strike targets that are critical to the Russian military machine. “This command must focus 100 percent of its available resources on further reducing Russia’s war potential,” Zelenskyy stated.
The head of state also noted that an experienced military commander will lead this new unit. He emphasized that the person in this position must have a deep understanding of modern warfare and practical combat experience.
Changes in the Assault Troops
Separately, the president announced a transformation of the assault troops. According to him, problems have accumulated in this area that require resolution, particularly regarding the treatment of service members and the organization of unit operations.
Zelenskyy noted that law enforcement agencies are already taking the necessary procedural steps, and changes will also occur at the command level of the assault forces. According to him, the goal of these steps is to make the system more effective and better suited to the conditions of modern warfare. “There are many issues and problems that need to be resolved. First and foremost, regarding the treatment of personnel. Law enforcement agencies are taking procedural steps. There will also be changes at the command level of the assault troops,” the president said.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian army must constantly evolve, as the war against Russia requires new approaches, quick decisions, and greater technological sophistication.
Ukraine to Create Joint Rapid Response Forces
Another decision announced by the president was the creation of the Joint Rapid Response Forces. The plan is for this to be a new component of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that will combine various types of military capabilities.
The new structure will include assault units, unmanned systems, artillery, and other resources necessary for a rapid response to the situation on the front lines. The President described this component as modern and technologically advanced, since future combat operations will depend to a large extent on the speed of decision-making and the use of new technologies.
“This is to be a new component of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that will combine the combat capabilities of assault troops, the necessary unmanned systems, the necessary artillery, and other assets to ensure the fastest possible response on the front lines,” Zelenskyy said. According to him, the new structure is intended to be one of the elements of the Ukrainian army’s modernization and to help the military respond more quickly to changes on the battlefield.
Dmytro Voloshin to Be Appointed Commander
The president announced that Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshin will become the commander of the Joint Rapid Reaction Forces. Zelenskyy said he had already spoken with him and selected him for this assignment. Voloshin is the commander of the 8th Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the president, he has the necessary combat experience and is capable of leading the development of this new unit. “The commander of the Joint Rapid Reaction Forces must be an experienced military officer and combat commander. Today I spoke with Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Voloshin and appointed him to carry out this task,” the head of state noted.
Zelenskyy added that Brigadier General Voloshin must ensure the further development of the Ukrainian military’s capabilities in the areas of rapid response and modern combat operations. The creation of new commands, according to the president, is part of broader changes within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The goal of these reforms is to make the army more technologically advanced, flexible, and capable of responding quickly to the challenges of war. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
