According to Channel NewsAsia, Chung was taken to the Chinese University of Hong Kong Medical Centre on September 11 after a sudden medical emergency. On the same day, she posted a statement on Instagram, thanking everyone who had sent her messages, prayed for her, and expressed support.
The actress described this time as a difficult period in her life. She said she understood the interest in her condition as a public figure, but asked people not to speculate about her health or a possible illness. According to her, her priorities at present are her health and family.

Singer and actress Tobi Leung and other friends of Chung were seen near the intensive care unit. The following day, Leung, according to Hong Kong media reports, told journalists that Chung was feeling well and able to speak. Actress Sherming Yiu also said that Chung’s circle of friends would support her and asked that she be given more personal space.

Chung gained popularity in the 1990s after appearing in the TVB drama series Detective Investigation Files III. She later left the entertainment industry, focusing on her family and teaching yoga.
