Foreign K-pop fans call for Kim Soo Hyun to be removed from award ceremonies
Some overseas K-pop fans on social media are calling on the organizers of two ceremonies to remove actor Kim Soo Hyun from the list of participants. As The Korea Herald reports, the reaction emerged after announcements of his participation in The Fact Music Awards in Busan and the Asia Artist Awards in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Planned participation
On August 28, the organizing committee of The Fact Music Awards announced that Kim Soo Hyun would take part in the ceremony as an award presenter. The event is scheduled for September 19 at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.
On Tuesday, the organizers of the Asia Artist Awards announced the actor's participation in the event, which is set to take place on December 5–6 at the Kaohsiung National Stadium in Taiwan. After that, posts with the hashtag #KimSooHyunOutAAA and images showing the actor's face crossed out appeared on social media.
One overseas K-pop fan wrote that they support calls by other fan communities to remove Kim Soo Hyun from participation in the ceremony, whose attendees will include female artists and underage idols.

Police decision
In July, police decided not to refer Kim Soo Hyun to prosecutors over allegations of a possible violation of the Child Welfare Act. The case concerned claims about his relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron during the period when she was a minor; insufficient evidence was cited as the reason for the decision.
The allegations emerged in March 2025, when Kim Sae Ron's family, through the YouTube channel Hover Lab, claimed that the couple had allegedly been in a relationship for six years, beginning when the actress was 15 years old. In May, the family filed a criminal complaint. Kim Soo Hyun acknowledged that he had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron, but denied that it began when she was a minor.
As of Thursday, the organizers of both ceremonies had not changed their plans regarding the actor's participation. His agency, Gold Medalist, said it would review the situation internally.
