In Nigeria, Rose Idibia, the mother of singer Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, said that some claims about her son circulated in the press and on social media are not true. She said this in an interview with Vanguard, Premium Times Nigeria reports.

According to Rose Idibia, her son has faced many attacks and false reports, but knowing the truth about himself helps him withstand criticism. She stressed that, as his mother, she knows what her son is capable of and what he is not. She also said that 2Baba has achieved success in music, although she did not describe him as an extremely wealthy person.

The 51-year-old 2Baba came under media attention after announcing his separation from Annie Macaulay in January 2025. In February of the same year, he introduced Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, as his partner. The publication notes that controversies and reports of possible conflicts subsequently arose around the performer.

Path in music

Rose Idibia, who previously worked as a teacher, said that the family initially envisioned a career in law, medicine, or engineering for her son. At the same time, his relatives saw his musical abilities and decided to support this choice. She believes that children should not be forced to give up their own interests.

According to Premium Times Nigeria, 2Baba began his music career in 1996 by creating and performing jingles at Enugu State Broadcasting Services. He later moved to Lagos and founded the group Plantashun Boiz with Blackface and Faze. The group released the albums Body and Soul in 2000 and Sold Out in 2003, and after the group disbanded in 2004, the singer continued his solo career.
