The world's most popular blogger, MrBeast, got married
American blogger Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, got married. The influencer with the largest audience in the world shared photos from the wedding ceremony, which took place on a private island.
The 28-year-old Mr. Beast, whose real name is James Donaldson, married blogger and gamer Thea Buissen. The million-follower blogger’s wedding took place on billionaire Richard Branson’s private island, Necker.
The wedding ceremony was attended by 70 guests and friends of the couple. The bride and groom exchanged vows, and a priest who is a friend of their family blessed their marriage. Moreover, there weren’t many photographers at the world-famous blogger’s wedding, let alone members of the media. He wanted this celebration to take place surrounded by his closest loved ones.
After exchanging vows, Mr. Beast and his wife performed their first dance as a married couple to Lady Gaga’s song “Die With a Smile.” It’s also known that Tea Buissen’s wedding dress was designed by the brands Nicole and Felicia Couture, while Donaldson chose a tuxedo by Ralph Lauren.
The newlyweds celebrated their wedding for two weeks, starting on July 14. Activities included wakeboarding, snorkeling, and feeding the lemurs and flamingos that live on the island. Surrounded by friends, the couple continued their wedding celebrations at the main house, where guests played board and card games.
As the newlyweds shared, their wedding was perfect. “We were so happy, and there was so much love all around. We work a lot and don’t get to spend time with all our friends and family very often, so having everyone together in one place was very special. We decided we want to do something like this every year—set aside a week so our friends and relatives can join us and spend time together. All the guests said the same thing,” Buissen shared.
Mr. Beast and Thea Buissen met in 2022 during the blogger’s trip to South Africa, where Buissen was born. At the time, a mutual friend invited Buissen to dinner, where she met Donaldson. According to her, she was surprised by how easygoing and intelligent Mr. Beast turned out to be. “When I met him, I was very surprised by how easygoing he was, as well as by how intelligent he is. I thought YouTubers were just playing a certain persona, but when I met him, I was very surprised to see that he’s actually a nice guy. He wasn’t sitting there with an inflated ego,” she said.
Eventually, they realized they had a lot in common and quickly hit it off. After returning to the U.S., Mr. Beast messaged Buissen on social media platform X. About a month later, they began a long-distance relationship. The couple made their first public appearance together at the Kids’ Choice Awards in April 2022. On Christmas Eve 2024, Mr. Beast proposed to Thea at their home in front of their families, according to People magazine.
