On September 20, Presley Walker Gerber—the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Randy Gerber, and the older brother of model Kaia Gerber—died at a rehabilitation center in Los Angeles. He was 27 years old. The cause of death is currently being determined, and details of the autopsy have not yet been released. Career
Presley entered the modeling industry as a teenager, signing a contract with IMG Models. His first photo shoot took place in 2015 with photographer Bruce Weber, and just a year later he made his runway debut at the Moschino Resort 2017 show alongside Miranda Kerr and Jordan Dunn.
This was followed by shows for Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Balmain, Bottega Veneta, and Ralph Lauren. In a 2018 Calvin Klein ad, he posed alongside his sister Kaia. That same year, Presley starred with his mother in a Pepsi ad leading up to the Super Bowl—a nod to the legendary 1992 Cindy Crawford commercial.
In 2022, he became the face of the Celine Eau de Californie fragrance, created by Hedi Slimane. He has also graced the covers of Vogue, CR Fashion Book, Numéro, L'Officiel, and other magazines. Incidentally, early in his career, he was less interested in modeling than in photography.
Arrest for DUI
In January 2019, when Presley was 19, police pulled him over in Beverly Hills around 4 a.m. for speeding in a Tesla. A breathalyzer test showed he was over the legal limit, and he was arrested. That same year, the court sentenced him to three years’ probation, a course on drunk driving prevention, and community service.
Battling Depression and Addiction
In February 2023, on the Studio 22 podcast, Presley spoke about his mental health struggles, depression, working with therapists, and his desire to help others with similar experiences. At that time, he also announced a video series about his personal journey to recovery called “Mental Health Mondays.”
"Given my own experience dealing with mental health issues, depression, and related conditions, I believe that if I can help even one person—or hundreds of people—get out of the state I once found myself in, then that’s exactly what I need to do.
I’ve had a lot of different experiences in my life. I’ve delved deeply into self-reflection, had periods of rest, and spent a lot of time looking inward and getting to know myself better with the help of therapists,” he said.
In December 2025, in a since-deleted Instagram video, Presley spoke about severe panic attacks and the list of medications he was taking to manage them. These included buprenorphine, Xanax, Valium, antidepressants, and gabapentin, as well as courses of ketamine therapy.
He admitted that he had consulted with about 15 psychiatrists in search of a doctor who would help him gradually reduce his doses, rather than simply continuing to write prescriptions.
“Unfortunately, I’ve recently experienced great losses in many different ways, so this isn’t an excuse—it’s the reason why I’m where I am right now. Doctors say a lot of different things, and it’s scary, but I hope that between my research and theirs… and, God, we’ll be able to figure this out. What scares me is the medication you have to take… because when you stop taking it, something bad happens. And there’s a spectrum of how intense the withdrawal effects of certain medications can be,” the young man admitted.
In March 2026, he published one of his last personal posts about undergoing treatment with ibogaine—a psychoactive substance used in some countries to treat addictions. He wrote that he felt afraid before the procedure and that he hoped this would be the last time he’d have to resort to such treatment. His mother and sister left encouraging comments under the post.
“I knew why I was there. I came face to face with what I had been running from, and somewhere in the middle of it all, I began to find my way back to myself. We’ll see,” the young man wrote.
