South Korea jails defendant accused of spreading fake videos about Ive's Jang Wonyoung

In South Korea, a defendant accused of distributing fabricated videos about Jang Wonyoung, a member of the K-pop group Ive, has been sentenced to prison. Starship Entertainment reported this, according to The Korea Herald.

Lawsuits against content creators

Starship Entertainment said it monitors violations of its artists' interests and takes legal action. The company also reported filing additional lawsuits against YouTube channels and YouTubers after collecting evidence of the publication and distribution of false accusations and distorted video materials.

The agency stressed that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy in such cases. The statement did not provide details about the prison term or the identity of the convicted person.

Ive performances in Taipei

On the same day, Ive members were spotted at Incheon Airport before departing for Taipei, Taiwan. There, the group is set to hold three performances as part of its international Show What I Am tour, starting on Friday.

A media exhibition, An-Young, dedicated to Jang Wonyoung and another group member, An Yujin, is running in Seoul until September 27.
