US woman faces 14 charges after shooting at Rihanna’s home — Asharq Al-Awsat
In the United States, a Los Angeles County court unsealed a grand jury indictment against 36-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz of Orlando, Florida. She faces 14 criminal charges, including attempted murder, in the case of a shooting at the Beverly Hills home of singer Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
Ortiz’s attorney entered a plea of not guilty in court. The judge set bail at $2.6 million. The day before, another judge found Ortiz mentally competent to stand trial. The grand jury returned the indictment on June 18, but the document was kept under seal for three months pending a decision on her competency to participate in court proceedings.
Circumstances of the shooting
According to law enforcement, on March 8 Ortiz drove a Tesla to the gates of the couple’s estate, fired from a rifle resembling an AR-15 through the window, and discharged at least 20 shots toward the estate grounds and a neighboring house. No one was injured.

According to a police report, bullets pierced an Airstream trailer where Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were staying and also struck the wall of a children’s room. The couple’s three children and their nanny were there. The singer’s mother, Monica Fenty, and several employees were also in the house. Investigators also claim that Ortiz fired toward the neighboring house.
Charges
In addition to attempted murder, the indictment includes 10 counts of assault with an assault weapon — one for each person at the two locations — and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or trailer. The document lists the couple’s three children — Rza, Riot and Rocki, all under five years old — among the victims.
Rihanna, her mother and Hollywood agent Tracey Jacobs testified before the grand jury. Their testimony remains sealed. Prosecutor Alexander Bott said that, in his view, Ortiz intended to kill Rihanna, while the other people could have become collateral victims. According to investigators, Ortiz denied intending to commit murder on the day of her arrest. If convicted on all counts, she could face life imprisonment.
