Anecacao launches Ecuadorian cocoa brand for the premium segment

Ecuador’s National Association of Cocoa Exporters and Industrialists, Anecacao, presented the origin brand “Cacao ecuatoriano, naturalmente, el mejor del mundo” on August 19, 2026, in the Samborondón canton near Guayaquil. The campaign is intended to strengthen the positioning of Ecuadorian cocoa in the premium chocolate market, The Rio Times reports.

The brand name translates as “Ecuadorian cocoa, naturally, the best in the world.” The presentation took place at the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo conference center, known as UEES. Anecacao Executive Director Merlin Casanova said the association seeks for the country to be recognized not only for the products it supplies, but also for what it represents.

Logo, film and communication strategy

The campaign includes four components: a country brand with an origin logo, a promotional film, a mark to confirm the origin of products, and a communication strategy. The film is planned to be used to promote the brand worldwide, while the mark is intended to operate at both national and international levels.

The brand launch was accompanied by the announcement of the fifth international Chokao cocoa and chocolate fair. The event will take place on August 25–27, 2026, at UEES; the program includes seminars, business meetings and master classes.

Fine-flavor cocoa

Anecacao estimates Ecuador’s share of the global fine-flavor cocoa market at approximately 60%, while industry estimates cite a figure of about 63%. This type of cocoa is associated with the Nacional variety, valued for its floral and fruity notes.

The campaign was presented amid a decline in the value of cocoa exports. In the first quarter of 2026, this indicator fell by 63.5%, from $1.208 billion to $441 million. According to the publication, the decline occurred amid lower international cocoa prices.
