A court ordered Russia to pay a Ukrainian agricultural company 1.2 billion hryvnia in damages

The Commercial Court of Donetsk Oblast ruled to recover 1.2 billion hryvnias in damages from the Russian Federation on behalf of the agricultural company “Beta-Agro-Invest” for losses incurred as a result of the war.

Prior to the full-scale invasion, the company cultivated approximately 40,000 hectares of land and operated within the Donetsk region. Following the occupation of part of the region, the company lost control of its property and is unable to use it for business operations.

According to the assessment, the agricultural enterprise lost or damaged 3,741 items of inventory, 239 real estate properties, 1,115 pieces of equipment, and 54 vehicles. The amount of the claim also included lost profits resulting from the inability to conduct business.

The court concluded that Russia must compensate the company for the damages incurred and the lost profits.
