Ghanaian journalist Emmanuel Bright Quaicoe wins IFAJ/Alltech award
In Ghana, JoyNews journalist Emmanuel Bright Quaicoe has become one of the 10 recipients of the IFAJ/Alltech Young Leaders in Agriculture Award 2026. He is the only representative of Ghana among the young journalists selected for the 21st cohort of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) programme, MyJoyOnline reports.
Representatives of ten countries
The 2026 cohort includes journalists from Argentina, Canada, Germany, the United States, the Netherlands, Kenya, Ireland, Liberia, Ghana and Sweden. The participants represent 10 countries across four continents.
The annual initiative, sponsored by the agricultural company Alltech, aims to identify, recognise and develop young professionals in agricultural journalism and communications. The programme was established by IFAJ and Alltech in 2006.

Training in Croatia
Quaicoe and the other selected journalists will complete a specialised Young Leaders Boot Camp ahead of the annual IFAJ Congress. This year, Croatia will host the programme. It includes seminars, discussions, practical assignments, professional skills development sessions, career consultations and motivational meetings.
Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with approximately 200 agricultural journalists from different countries. According to IFAJ Secretary General Adrian Bell, the programme aims not only to support individual talent but also to prepare professionals capable of developing the professional community.
Journalists aged under 35 from national agricultural journalists' associations affiliated with IFAJ may apply for the IFAJ/Alltech Young Leaders Award.
