This social project differs from traditional basic income models, as part of the payments are made by transferring them immediately. According to project manager Emma Kelsey, this payment structure is based on research that shows it is more effective in supporting low-income people. New York City was chosen for the program due to the high poverty rate in these areas and the country's economic performance.
