Body of British Jewish man found near Uman — Jerusalem Post

The body of a British Jewish man, about 45 years old and the father of seven children, was found in a forest near Uman, Ukraine. The body showed signs of violence, but the circumstances of his death have not yet been established, The Jerusalem Post reports.

Circumstances of death under investigation

According to the publication, police found the man's body on Sunday during Rosh Hashanah. Ukrainian law enforcement authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death.

Representatives of the local Jewish community suggest that the man may have been murdered. At the same time, police have not officially established whether a crime took place.

Transfer of the body for burial

Aaron Ben Harush, deputy head of the United Hatzalah branch in Uman, said that the organization's representatives are cooperating with the authorities to transfer the body for burial as soon as possible.

The international ZAKA unit, headed by Baruch Nidam, is handling the transfer of the body and its transportation for burial.

Uman is a pilgrimage site for thousands of religious Jews from Israel. Followers of Breslov Hasidism traditionally come to the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov for Rosh Hashanah.
