Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has equaled the Premier League record
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has tied the English Premier League record for the most assists in a single season. The Portuguese player has thus joined the list of players who have achieved this milestone in the English league.
This is reported in a post on the official Premier League website.
The midfielder contributed to Manchester United’s victory over Nottingham Forest (3-2) in the penultimate round of the Premier League. Fernandes provided an assist to forward Mbeumo, who scored the Red Devils’ third goal of the match.
The Manchester United captain now has 20 assists this season. Previously, only two players had achieved this feat. In the 2002/03 season, Thierry Henry (Arsenal) recorded the same number of assists, and Kevin De Bruyne matched that total while playing for Manchester City (2019/20).
Fernandes will have a chance to break the record. Manchester United has one final round of the English Premier League ahead. The Red Devils will take the field on May 24 in an away match against Brighton.
