The State Bureau of Investigation has exposed military personnel who attempted to sell more than a metric ton of explosives
Officials from the State Bureau of Investigations have notified three military personnel that they are under suspicion after they were caught attempting to illegally sell a large arsenal of weapons and more than a metric ton of explosives. According to the investigation, the stolen ammunition was intended for sale to civilians.
The scheme was uncovered while still in the planning stages and was stopped in time. The suspects were detained while loading the weapons onto a truck.
“During the arrest, more than 700 rounds of ammunition, approximately 1.2 metric tons of plastic explosive, and four anti-tank weapons were seized. The total value of the seized items exceeds 2 million hryvnias.

In addition, another instance of weapons trafficking was documented as part of the pretrial investigation,” the statement reads.
Currently, three military personnel have been notified of charges under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of ammunition and explosives committed by a group of persons acting in concert).
Preventive measures have been imposed on them: two are being held in custody with the possibility of bail, and the third is under round-the-clock house arrest. The investigation is ongoing. The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is determining the origin of the seized weapons and identifying other individuals who may be involved in their illegal circulation.
