US Department of Justice intensifies investigation into Epstein case

The US Senate has passed a bill to disclose Jeffrey Epstein's files, which now awaits President Donald Trump's signature. Pam Bondi, a lawyer for the Energy Department, announced the release of more than 33,000 documents, emphasizing the importance of maximum transparency and encouraging victims to come forward. A new investigation was also announced to look into the alleged ties of high-profile Democrats to the case, following Trump's call for an inquiry.

It is unclear whether the Justice Department will use the new investigations to partially or fully classify the files, although they have not previously found evidence to support the new allegations. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer warned Trump about the possibility of selective release of documents and said that a lack of transparency would be unacceptable. Many Republicans believe that the investigations will not be used to withhold files from public access, emphasizing the broad bipartisan support for the bill.

If the bill becomes law, it could mandate the release of federal records about Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaina Maxwell, including the names of individuals associated with the case. However, information about victims and other sensitive data would be excluded from disclosure. The president is expected to sign the bill, and the issue will remain in the public and political spotlight.
