DTEK has raised $127 million to build a large-scale energy storage system in Poland
DRI, the European division of Rinat Akhmetov’s Ukrainian energy group DTEK focused on renewable energy development, has secured approximately 470 million Polish zlotys (roughly $127 million) in project financing. The long-term funding will be directed toward the implementation of a large-scale project—the construction of the Trzebinia Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Poland.
Leading European financial institutions, including Erste Bank Polska, PKO Bank Polski, and UniCredit, provided financing under the classic international Project Finance model without recourse to shareholders, where the future facility itself serves as collateral. The loan agreement also received official financial support from Poland’s state export-credit agency (KUKE).
The new battery complex will have an installed capacity of 133 MW and, upon completion, will become one of the largest industrial energy storage infrastructure systems in the country. Work at the construction site has already officially begun, and the facility is scheduled to be commissioned in early 2027. Once operational, the autonomous complex will stabilize the Polish power grid by providing rapid balancing services, enhance the system’s reliability for integrating new solar and wind power capacity, and participate in the Polish capacity market as part of long-term commitments. This initiative is part of the Ukrainian company’s strategy to enter European energy markets and expand its portfolio of clean technologies to enhance security across the entire region.

Ukraine’s richest businessman, Rinat Akhmetov, has purchased a luxury apartment in Monaco worth $554 million through his holding company. If the details are confirmed, this deal could become one of the most expensive in the history of single-family home sales.
For the first time in 12 years, Akhmetov attended a Shakhtar match; Shefir was spotted near him.
