Iran has vowed to sink U.S. ships in response to the blockade of its ports

Iran has vowed to sink U.S. ships in response to the blockade of its ports

Any U.S. warships will be sunk if they attempt to block Iranian ports.

This was stated by Aladdin Boroujerdi, a member of Iran’s Foreign Policy and National Security Committee, according to Sky News. The Iranian side made this statement following Donald Trump’s threats to destroy Iranian vessels if they approach the U.S. blockade.

Boroujerdi emphasized that Washington has no real ability to carry out its threats. He also added that other NATO members would not support U.S. military action in the region. Earlier, the United Kingdom and France had already stated that they would not get involved in the conflict and were working on a separate initiative to unblock shipping.

The situation escalated after Trump announced the blockade following the collapse of nuclear talks with Tehran. Despite his aggressive rhetoric, the U.S. president later noted that Iranian representatives had already reached out with a desire to conclude a new agreement. Meanwhile, Russia is attempting to use the tensions in the Middle East to divert global attention from the war in Ukraine and the systemic recession of its own economy.

The U.S. has launched a full naval blockade of Iranian ports, and President Donald Trump warned that any vessel attempting to breach it would be immediately destroyed.

The U.S. announced the start of mine clearance operations in the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, U.S. military ships have passed through the strait for the first time since the start of the war without Iran’s approval.
