Klitschko signed an order raising public transportation fares in Kyiv, effective July 15

Public transportation fares in Kyiv will change starting July 15. A ride on the metro, bus, tram, trolleybus, or funicular will cost 30 hryvnias. At the same time, passengers can save money by purchasing tickets in advance through the “Kyiv Digital” app.

New public transportation fares will take effect in Kyiv on July 15. Mayor Vitali Klitschko signed the corresponding order. According to the document, a single ride on the capital’s public transit system will cost 30 hryvnias. The new fare will apply to the metro, buses, trams, trolleybuses, and the funicular.

The fare increase applies to both surface and underground transit. At the same time, passengers will still have the option to pay less if they purchase trips in advance. In the “Kyiv Digital” app, the cost per ride will be lower depending on the number of rides purchased. If you buy 10 or more rides, each ride will cost approximately 28.90 hryvnias. If you buy 50 trips, the price will drop to 25 hryvnias per trip.

Also, starting August 1, a new type of ticket—valid for 90 minutes—will be introduced in Kyiv. It will cost 60 hryvnias. This ticket will allow passengers to transfer between different modes of public transportation an unlimited number of times for one and a half hours after the first validation. In addition to single-trip fares, the prices of pass tickets will also change. A 24-hour pass will cost 375 hryvnias, a 48-hour pass—563 hryvnias, and a 72-hour pass—750 hryvnias.

Monthly unlimited passes will also become more expensive. A general monthly pass will cost 3,656 hryvnias. For college students, the price will be 1,828 hryvnias, and for high school students—914 hryvnias.

City officials note that trips purchased by passengers before July 14 will not expire after the fare changes take effect. They can be used until September 14, 2026. Thus, Kyiv residents will have a transition period to use their prepaid trips. After this period ends, only the new fares will apply.

The fare increase will be the first significant change in public transportation fares in the capital in recent times. Kyiv authorities cite rising costs for vehicle maintenance, fuel, electricity, and urban infrastructure upkeep as the reason for the fare adjustment. This is outlined in Order No. 145, signed by Vitali Klitschko.

Kyiv continues to consider raising fares on public transportation. The new fare could be 30 hryvnias per trip, but a final decision on its implementation has not yet been made.
