King Harald V of Norway has been hospitalized
King Harald V of Norway has been admitted to a hospital, where he will undergo treatment. According to the Royal Palace, the 89-year-old monarch will remain in the hospital for two weeks.
In recent weeks, the King of Norway has been undergoing treatment with cortisone for a rare blood disorder—hemolytic anemia.
This condition causes a decrease in the number of red blood cells in the body, which can lead to symptoms such as fatigue and shortness of breath.
The Royal Palace reported that Harald V was hospitalized due to fluid retention, which requires treatment at a hospital.
While King Harald V is on sick leave, 53-year-old Crown Prince Haakon will serve as regent.
He will temporarily carry out the constitutional duties of head of state until the king returns to work.
Harald V has been the ceremonial head of Norway since 1991. He is also the oldest monarch in Europe.
In recent years, the king has repeatedly experienced health issues, leading other members of the royal family to temporarily assume his duties.
This was reported by the Royal Palace of Norway.
As a reminder, on August 15, King Abdullah II of Jordan and Queen Rania welcomed twin granddaughters—the daughters of Princess Iman. The couple presented the girls to the public for the first time and announced their names—Amina and Noor.
