Lithuania has received its first maritime drones for patrolling the Baltic Sea

The Lithuanian Army has received its first maritime drones to bolster its capabilities in the Baltic Sea. This was announced by Raimundas Vaikšnoras, Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

“Longer tentacles in the Baltic Sea. ANBO is getting stronger. If you see these little guys, don’t worry—they’re ours,” he noted.

In May 2026, Lithuania established the Autonomous Remote Unmanned Operations (ANBO) unit. Its mission is to centralize the capabilities of unmanned systems, electronic warfare assets, and drone countermeasures within the country’s armed forces.

In addition to carrying out combat missions, the unit will test new unmanned platforms and develop technical requirements for the defense industry.

Currently, the Lithuanian military has trained over a thousand unmanned system operators, though the number of ANBO personnel has not been disclosed.
