IAEA warns Iran must “seriously improve” nuclear cooperation amid rising tensions

The International Atomic Energy Agency has urged Iran to “seriously improve” its cooperation after inspectors were denied access to key nuclear sites, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Director General Rafael Grossi told the Financial Times that while limited inspections resumed, access to the most sensitive facilities remains blocked, raising concerns about transparency and nuclear material tracking.

Tehran claimed the suspension was due to the aftermath of its war with Israel, but Western diplomats fear Iran’s stance could escalate tensions and potentially trigger another Israeli strike if no diplomatic progress is made.

Grossi emphasized that the IAEA has “lost visibility” of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles and called for immediate restoration of inspections to prevent further breaches of non-proliferation commitments.
