Residents of a building in Halats were allowed to return after a drone strike

In the Romanian city of Galați, residents of the building struck by a Russian drone have been allowed to return to their apartments. The decision was made following an assessment of the building’s condition and the completion of initial inspections.

This was reported by News.ro.

After the inspection and restoration of power, residents were allowed to return home, with the exception of two people who were in the affected apartment and are currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.

“Following assessments conducted by competent authorities, it was determined that the structural integrity of the apartment building on Breilei Street was not compromised. From now on, residents of the building can safely return to their apartments, with the exception of the family that was directly affected by the drone strike,” officials in Galati announced on Saturday.

According to them, members of this family are still in the hospital, and their health is being constantly monitored by medical staff.

Electricity has been restored to the building, while natural gas service has been suspended due to the need for specialized inspections.

“The responsible authorities are making every effort to complete these inspections as quickly as possible so that residents can once again enjoy normal living conditions. The Galati Prefect’s Office, together with all agencies involved in resolving this situation, continues to closely monitor developments and will provide support to those affected by this incident,” the statement added.

As is known, on the night of May 29, during a Russian attack on southern Ukraine, a drone crashed into the roof of a 10-story building in the Romanian border city of Galați. The impact caused a fire, damaged an apartment, and injured two people. The drone was identified as a Russian “Shahed” / “Geran-2” type aircraft.
