The Russian drone that struck a residential building in the Romanian city of Galați was carrying at least 30 kilograms of explosives.
This was stated by Romanian President Nicușor Dan.
According to him, investigators working at the scene provided a preliminary assessment. An investigation is currently underway, and the seized samples are being examined.
“I was with the police and the Criminal Investigation Department. According to their estimates, there were at least 30 kilograms of conventional explosives there,” Dan noted.
The Romanian president also commented on the capabilities for countering drones. According to him, using fighter jets to intercept drones is not an optimal solution.
Dan reported that the country has made significant progress in detecting aerial targets and is working on developing ground-based systems to counter drones.
“Using aircraft is the least optimal method. We have made significant progress in detecting drones and some progress in developing ground-based defense systems,” the Romanian president emphasized.
As a reminder, Nicușor Dan previously stated that the drone that crashed in Galați was shot down by a Ukrainian air defense system during the repulsion of a Russian attack.
