Authorities in Volyn have uncovered a scheme involving the illegal sale of vehicles imported for the Ukrainian Armed Forces as humanitarian aid
An organized group was uncovered in Volyn that was importing cars from abroad under the guise of humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and selling them for cash. According to the investigation, the scheme was organized by the head of a non-governmental organization. Together with his accomplices, he sourced cars in EU countries, particularly in Poland and the Baltic states, and then sold them illegally.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
They forged documents from charitable organizations and military units and facilitated the import of cars into Ukraine through border checkpoints.
While documenting the illegal activity, law enforcement officials determined that 55 cars worth over 7.4 million hryvnias were imported and sold through this scheme.
At the same time, according to operational intelligence, between 2023 and 2024, the suspects imported approximately 300 vehicles into Ukraine, of which at least 130 were sold.
According to preliminary data, this scheme generated over 22 million UAH in criminal profits for the dealers.
Based on the evidence gathered, five members of the organized group have been notified of their status as suspects. They face up to 12 years in prison for their actions.
On April 21, the Security Service of Ukraine detained military personnel from one of the regional territorial recruitment and social support centers in Odesa.
It is reported that the detention of the TCC representatives took place on Balkivska Street and involved a chase and gunfire.
