In Kyiv, a man was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the murder of a friend
A Kyiv court has sentenced a Kyiv resident who fatally stabbed his friend during a party. According to police, the conflict between the men arose from an argument over loud music. After reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecution, the court handed down a sentence of 11 years in prison.

The incident occurred in May 2023. At that time, the Kyiv Police received a report that a man had been killed in an apartment on Mykola Vasylenko Street. Investigators detained the deceased’s friend—a 52-year-old resident of the Kyiv region—on suspicion of committing the crime.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers established that the 47-year-old apartment owner had been drinking alcohol at home with his acquaintances. During the gathering, a conflict arose between the men over excessively loud music, resulting in one of the guests stabbing the host several times in the chest with a knife. The Kyiv resident died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators from the Solomyanskyi Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Solomyanskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, notified the detained 52-year-old man of his suspicion under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—intentional murder. During the investigation, the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The court has now found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 11 years in prison.
