Following the explosion in Kyiv, Nova Poshta suspended operations at its sorting center
Nova Poshta announced the temporary suspension of operations at its sorting depot in Kyiv following an explosion that occurred on the premises on the morning of June 5. One of the company’s employees was killed in the incident, and two others were injured. Due to the ongoing investigation and the work of emergency services, the sorting center has been temporarily shut down.
The company expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and noted that it is providing necessary assistance to the injured employees. Law enforcement officials, who continue to work at the scene, are investigating the circumstances of the explosion.
"Unfortunately, our employee Ivan Zharij, 58, was killed in the incident. Two other employees: Vadym Protsenko, 41, and Denys Karachov, 37, were injured and are under medical supervision," the Nova Poshta press service reported in a statement to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
The company emphasized that it is in constant contact with their families and is providing all necessary assistance and support. Nova Poshta will also take responsibility for organizing the funeral of the deceased colleague.
It is noted that the fire has now been contained.
"Investigative activities and the work of relevant agencies are ongoing at the scene to establish all the circumstances and causes of the incident," the press service added.
Nova Poshta clarified that until the official investigation is complete, the company is refraining from commenting on the possible causes of the incident.
