After seven years of work, the northern bypass of Rivne worth almost UAH 2 billion has been opened
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development officially opened the 14.5-kilometer Rivne Northern Bypass.
The new highway is designed to significantly relieve city streets of heavy-duty traffic and optimize logistics.
This project is expected to provide convenient access to the M-06 Kyiv–Chop international transport corridor and strategic border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
The implementation of this large-scale infrastructure project took several years and required significant financial investment. The total cost of the project amounted to nearly 2 billion UAH.
With these funds, specialists built a new 6-kilometer section of road, reconstructed 4 kilometers of the existing highway, and repaired an additional 4.5 kilometers of the road network and engineering structures.
Construction work on this section began even before the start of the full-scale war but was forced to pause due to security concerns.
“The Rivne Northern Bypass is of great importance both for the region and for the country as a whole. After the forced pause, we managed to resume work and complete this project,” said Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba.
The official also discussed the details of the construction process and the importance of resuming work on the bypass in a timely manner on his Telegram channel.
Kuleba reminded on Telegram that the project was launched back in 2019, but work was suspended with the start of the full-scale invasion. Preserving the site could have risked the destruction of already completed elements of the interchange.
“But this is one of the largest road projects in recent years that needed to be completed. After all, the unfinished bridge structures had begun to deteriorate, which could have led to significant losses,” the Deputy Prime Minister clarified.
The timely resumption of funding and the engineers’ work helped preserve state funds and complete the long-delayed project.
This is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
