Finnish police seized a Nazi flag that had been hung outside a private home

Law enforcement officials in Lappeenranta intervened following numerous complaints from residents about a flag bearing a swastika that had been displayed in the yard of a private residence. Finnish police removed the Nazi flag from the flagpole and seized it for investigation, as its visibility from the street could be interpreted as a message directed against a specific national group

This was reported by Yle.

Law enforcement is currently determining whether there are grounds to open a criminal investigation. Although the use of such symbols on private property is not formally prohibited by law, publicly displaying the symbol could be considered a criminal offense. Police have not yet spoken with the property owner; his identity and motives are being established.

Investigators note that the decisive factor in this case is the public nature of the gesture, as the flag was visible to passersby. The investigation must determine whether the individual’s actions contain signs of inciting ethnic hatred. Similar incidents in Finland typically generate significant public outcry and a strong response from authorities.

In the Estonian capital, law enforcement detained a 32-year-old man who painted the letter Z—a symbol of Russian aggression—on a column of the Riigikogu building

Additionally, at a Lithuanian border crossing, a railcar marked with a “Z” was uncoupled from a train bound for the Kaliningrad region.
