A video filmed near a medical facility in Kyiv has sparked a reaction online. A blind veteran, accompanied by a fellow veteran who has had limbs amputated, was trying to reach a parcel locker located next to the hospital. The man with a cane had to navigate curbs and steps on his own, relying on touch, while his comrade in a wheelchair guided him along the route. After the video went viral, the operator of the parcel locker network responded to the situation.
The video sparked a discussion about the accessibility of urban spaces and services for people with disabilities.
The veteran eventually managed to reach the parcel locker and open the compartment. “That’s it, we did it,” one of the men said at the end of the video.
The veteran’s wife noted that the parcel locker is actually located on the grounds of a medical facility, yet the path to it proved difficult even for people undergoing treatment or rehabilitation.
After the situation gained attention, the postal operator responded in the comments and asked for the parcel locker’s number. In response, users urged the company to address not only this specific terminal but also the broader issue of accessibility for people with disabilities, veterans, and patients at medical facilities.
