Poland will begin manufacturing missiles for Patriot systems

The U.S. has approved the launch of production of missiles for Patriot air defense systems in Poland, effectively marking a new phase in cooperation between the defense sectors of the two countries. Washington’s decision allows Warsaw to establish production within a Polish consortium of defense companies and gradually strengthen its own military capabilities. This was reported by RMF24.

The U.S. State Department has granted preliminary approval for the production of PAC-3 MSE missiles in Poland, as stated by the country’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Cezary Tomczyk. According to him, this is a long-awaited project that will allow Polish companies to join the Patriot system production chain. “The U.S. State Department has given preliminary approval for the project,” Tomczyk noted, emphasizing that this is an important step for the development of Poland’s defense industry.

Negotiations regarding the launch of production have been ongoing for several years, but the U.S. had long restricted the transfer of such technologies. The situation began to change amid a global increase in demand for air defense missiles and a reduction in U.S. stockpiles following the active use of these weapons in various conflicts.

In particular, PAC-3 MSE missiles were supplied to Ukraine and other U.S. allies, and were also expended during the war with Iran, which placed an additional strain on production capacity.

Currently, the U.S. produces about 700 PAC-3 MSE missiles annually, but Washington plans to significantly increase production to approximately 2,000 units by the end of 2030. This should allow not only for the replenishment of stockpiles but also for the expansion of export opportunities for allies.

Following consultations between the Polish delegation and the U.S. side, Warsaw adopted a more open stance on cooperation in the field of high-tech weapons. Production of Patriot missiles is planned to be organized within a consortium of Polish defense companies, which will allow for the localization of part of the production within the country. In addition, the U.S. is also exploring the possibility of manufacturing long-range missiles in Poland for HIMARS systems and Hellfire missiles used on Apache helicopters.

Currently, the Polish Army already has two Patriot batteries and is awaiting the delivery of six more systems. Expanding missile production could significantly strengthen not only national defense but also Poland’s overall integration into NATO’s collective security framework.

Poland has warnedRussia of the consequences of strikes on diplomatic missions in Kyiv.

As a reminder, the aggressor state, Russia, will continue to strike Kyiv, which the Russians traditionally refer to as retaliatory strikes.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced its intention to carry out “systemic strikes” on Kyiv, claiming that the targets would allegedly be facilities involved in the development, production, and use of Ukrainian drones.
