In Bucha, an 11-year-old boy jumped from a construction crane
In Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, law enforcement officials are investigating the tragic death of an 11-year-old boy who fell to his death from a construction crane. The police have opened a criminal case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional homicide) with a note indicating “suicide.”
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kyiv region.
The incident occurred on May 23. Law enforcement was contacted by an eyewitness who saw the child fall from a height. Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the investigative team determined that two teenagers had secretly entered the site of an abandoned or unfinished construction project. Subsequently, one of them climbed to the top of a construction crane and jumped down. The child died at the scene from his injuries.
At the same time, a farewell video that the boy recorded immediately before jumping began circulating in local communities and on Telegram channels. In the footage, the teenager films himself at a great height and says, “Goodbye, everyone.” According to acquaintances of the deceased, he had previously expressed his intentions to take such a step to his friends. At the time, his peers tried to talk him out of it, but later the teenager returned to the construction site alone, sent the recording to his friends, and carried out his plan. Investigators are currently looking into all the circumstances and motives that may have led to the tragedy.
Earlier in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, police prevented the suicide of a 17-year-old girl who was about to jump from the 25th floor of a building. Law enforcement officers helped the teenager at the last moment—she nearly fell from the high-rise.
