More than a thousand artists have called for a boycott of Eurovision due to Israel's participation
More than a thousand musicians have signed an open letter calling for a boycott of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest due to Israel’s participation.
This was reported by the organizers of the No Music for Genocide campaign.
The letter was prepared in collaboration with the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. Among the signatories are well-known musicians, including Roger Waters, Peter Gabriel, Björk, Brian Eno, the band Sigur Rós, Lorde, Macklemore, Paloma Faith, and Paul Weller.
The authors of the appeal accuse the European Broadcasting Union of double standards, noting that Russia has been suspended from the contest since 2022, while Israel continues to participate.
According to them, a number of countries, including Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain, have already withdrawn from the contest.
At the same time, over a thousand representatives of the entertainment industry have signed another letter—in support of Israel’s participation. Among them are actors Helen Mirren, Amy Schumer, Liv Schreiber, Mila Kunis, Mayim Bialik, Julianna Margulies, Debra Messing, Selma Blair, as well as musicians Gene Simmons, Boy George, Matisyahu, David Draiman, Diane Warren, and Noah Kirel.
Over a thousand movie stars have spoken out against the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Skydance.
