Prince Harry tested drones and robots for mine clearance in Ukraine

Prince Harry visited Ukraine and joined the humanitarian organization The HALO Trust to learn about modern demining technologies.

He personally tested a drone equipped with artificial intelligence that detects and maps explosive ordnance in real time. The Duke also operated the R-BOT robotic platform, which is used for the safe disposal of munitions.

Harry noted that as recently as 30 years ago, deminers worked manually, whereas today they use drones, artificial intelligence, and robots, which significantly increases accuracy and safety.

It is estimated that after the start of full-scale war, an area roughly the size of two Austrias remained potentially mined.

At the same time, The HALO Trust teams have already made significant progress—an area roughly the size of Belgium has been confirmed safe, allowing people to return home and rebuild their lives.

Prior to this, on the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion, Prince Harry recorded a video message to Ukrainians, in which he shared his impressions from his visits to Ukraine over the past year.

Prince Harry recently appeared on an episode of the American show “The Late Show,” where he performed in a comedy sketch in which he joked about U.S. President Donald Trump.
