Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has spoken out in support of introducing universal military conscription in the country. According to the head of state, this reform can only be implemented after proper preparation, which involves building the necessary infrastructure and training additional military instructors.

Currently, the number of conscripts in the country is increasing gradually, as the transition to full universal service requires significant resources. At the same time, the state’s main defense priorities remain strengthening air defense, deploying a German brigade by the end of 2027, and achieving full operational capability for the national division by 2030.

This was reported by the Lithuanian leader’s office in a response to the LRT broadcasting company.

The Lithuanian prime minister stated that her family was also affected by a major data breach — LRT.
