The U.S. has denied Iran's claim that it struck an American vessel

The U.S. military has dismissed Iran's claims that it allegedly struck a U.S. Navy ship.

This is stated in a report from U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for operations in the Middle East.

CENTCOM stated that claims by Iranian state media that a U.S. warship was allegedly struck by two missiles fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are untrue.

"No U.S. ships have been struck. U.S. forces are supporting 'Project Freedom' and enforcing the naval blockade of Iranian ports," the CENTCOM post states.

They also claim that two U.S. merchant ships successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
