The U.S. and Iran may hold talks on ending the war on March 26

Axios reported on March 24, 2026, that the United States, together with Middle Eastern countries, is discussing the possibility of holding high-level peace talks with Iran. Washington has already submitted a 15-point draft agreement to Tehran, which is largely based on previous agreements reached in Geneva. 

According to sources, the Iranian side has tentatively agreed to most of the document’s provisions, having received approval from Mojtaba Khamenei for a swift resolution of the issue, provided Iran’s demands are met.

Despite diplomatic progress, Israel expresses skepticism regarding future negotiations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fears that a potential agreement could limit Israel’s military capabilities and fail to take the country’s security interests into account. The situation in the region remains tense: over the past three weeks, as many ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz as previously passed through in a single day, underscoring the critical need to stabilize shipping and end hostilities.
