Trump called Vance and Rubio a strong ticket for the 2028 election

Trump called Vance and Rubio a strong ticket for the 2028 election

U.S. President Donald Trump said that Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio could make a very strong ticket in the 2028 presidential election. He made this remark in an interview with journalist Miranda Divine, noting that he considers such a political team “unbeatable.”

Both politicians are already being viewed as potential contenders for the Republican nomination after Trump’s presidency ends. Vance and Rubio themselves have not yet publicly confirmed such plans and are trying not to draw attention to their own ambitions.

“I think JD and Marco as a team would be very tough opponents,” Trump said.

He added that he is closely watching their interaction and sees a good working relationship between them.

“It’s interesting, the human factor. I watch them together—they get along great,” the U.S. president said.

It is worth noting that talk of a possible 2028 campaign has intensified after Vance and Rubio began appearing more frequently at White House briefings. They have defended the Trump administration’s position on various issues, particularly regarding the war with Iran, which is becoming increasingly unpopular among Americans.

Rubio’s recent appearance at the White House podium drew particular attention. He was praised not only by Republicans but also by some Democrats, who noted his confident delivery, jokes, and references to 1990s hip-hop while describing Iran’s negotiating position.

Officially, the 2028 campaign has not yet begun, and no candidate has announced their candidacy yet. At the same time, political maneuvering is already underway among both Republicans and Democrats, who are also searching for a future candidate with no clear frontrunner within their party.

Trump’s statement effectively served as yet another signal that the Republican Party is already discussing a possible succession scenario—even if potential candidates prefer not to speak openly about it for now.

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Americans has fallen to nearly its lowest point since his return to the White House.

At the same time, Trump once again repeated the threats he has been making in recent weeks: “If they agree, it’s over; if not, we’ll bomb them.”

Official Tehran refused to participate in the second round of peace talks with the United States, which were to take place in Islamabad.
