A drone struck a Turkish ship carrying Russian coal

In the Black Sea, a drone struck the dry cargo ship Mv Reyhan Sari, which was sailing under the Turkish flag. The ship was transporting coal from the Russian port of Taman to Trabzon, Turkey, and was attacked near Novorossiysk.

A 54-year-old crew member who was in the engine room at the time of the strike was killed in the incident. Three other people were injured; two of them were evacuated by a coast guard helicopter from the port of Samsun and hospitalized. 

Despite damage to the hull and engine room, the vessel was able to continue its journey and reach its destination.

As a reminder, on the night of July 12, SBU drones struck 14 Russian vessels—10 tankers and 4 ferries. In total, during the week of July 6–12, the SBU’s “Birds” unit took out 90 vessels of the Russian Federation’s shadow fleet.

On the night of July 12, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes against key military, economic, and military facilities of the enemy. In particular, the Syzran Oil Refinery in the Samara Region of the Russian Federation was hit, with explosions and a fire reported at the site. The facility, with a design capacity of 8.5 million metric tons of oil per year, supplies fuel to the occupying forces.
