Toxic people around you accelerate your aging, study finds
Researchers analyzed data from over 2,300 individuals and found that 28.8% had at least one toxic person in their environment, while 10% had two or more. This matters because toxic relationships can speed up biological aging by approximately 1.5%.
The study revealed that people with toxic contacts were biologically about 9 months older on average than their peers without such relationships. They also exhibited higher inflammation levels and poorer health indicators.
These findings highlight the impact of social surroundings on physical health and may serve as a basis for further research on aging prevention and mental health support.
