Trump said that Macron will soon step down
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that French President Emmanuel Macron is reportedly set to step down from office soon.
He made the remarks while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office.
The statement came amid France’s decision not to join military operations to ensure the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Macron stated that France is not a party to the conflict and will not participate in such operations under the current circumstances.
“We are not a party to the conflict… France will never participate in operations to open or liberate the Strait of Hormuz under current conditions,” he noted.
At the same time, the French president emphasized that Paris is ready to join efforts to ensure the safety of navigation once the situation stabilizes.
The day before, Trump rated Macron’s position on this issue as an “8 out of 10” and suggested that France might join U.S. initiatives.
Additionally, France will not intervene in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
