Tusk called the drone incidents in the Baltic states an expected escalation

The Polish Prime Minister stated that a series of airspace violations by neighboring countries underscores the reality of the threats to NATO’s entire eastern flank, which he has been warning about for months.

This was reported by Polsat News.

The statement followed an air raid alert and the suspension of operations at an airport in Lithuania due to a UAV threat, as well as the downing of a drone over Estonia by a Romanian fighter jet the day before. Tusk noted that regardless of the drones’ origin—whether Russian or Ukrainian—the war is making cross-border chaos a reality, and although there is no immediate danger to Poland itself at this time, the risk of various border provocations is rapidly increasing.

As a reminder, on May 7, Latvia detected new unidentified drones in its airspace that had flown in from Russian territory; one of them struck an oil depot in Rēzekne. It has not yet been confirmed whether these were Ukrainian or Russian drones.

Latvia’s prime minister criticized the warning system following the crash of a drone from Russia.
